Despite our stay in place orders, the North Bay real estate market is experiencing a window of opportunity in both the number of sales and median prices, meaning we have both good inventory and our homes are holding their value better than other areas of the state and country. After a slight dip last month, median sales prices have stayed strong in Marin according to the California Association of Realtors.
More good news - Marin has almost doubled the number of homes listed in the last few weeks. And we agents are more than happy to once again show homes and have adjusted to the safety protocols which allow for greater ease in both vacant and owner-occupied homes for sale.
3 Reasons Marin Real Estate Market Strong
First, is the same reason we all choose to live in Marin County! Our proximity to San Francisco gives us access to city life, while it also means we can retreat to homes with wild-scaped yards, room to grow vegetables, access to green space and wildlife. My clients tell me they have enjoyed more bird, fox, bobcat sightings than ever.
The second reason is the overall adherence by Marin County residents to safety protocols. We’ve kept each other safe and our curve remains lower than most of the state. That has encouraged young families from all over the Bay Area to cross the bridge in search of a new home. We are fortunate they help us keep our community vibrant.
The last factor that helped spur sales is purely financial. The plummeting interest rates now sit at 3.23% for a 30-year fixed loan. This means that homeowners can save thousands by taking advantage of this unique time to buy their first home, upsizing to welcome family members back home, or for empty nesters to finally buy the home of their dreams out at the coast or in the hills of West Marin.
So whether you ready to lay down some roots and shelter in place in lovely Marin County, or a lucky homeowner looking to downsize and find a fresh a new nest, give me a call. I am open for business!
